Director of Facilities

Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Summary
Eastside Community Church of Dallas is seeking a full-time Director of Facilities to oversee and manage the Eastside facilities. This position will be responsible for leading and managing the custodial staff, outside vendors, and volunteers. This position will oversee and maintain the systems and projects to ensure excellent stewardship of the church facility.

General Qualifications:

  1. A consistent, contagious, and fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ, exhibited by the fruit of the Spirit, which is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Gal 5:22-23). Character qualities reflected in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. 

  2. A track record of serving in ministry, loyalty to pastoral leadership, and a desire to equip the saints in ministry. 

  3. Free from addictions and life-dominating sins; willing to limit one’s liberty for the sake of others, living above reproach.

  4. Demonstrated competence in doing the work of ministry. The candidate should be able to demonstrate gifting and ability as necessary for ministry leadership. 

  5. A commitment to the Church’s mission, values, statement of faith, and philosophy of ministry. 

  6. If married, a spouse who enthusiastically supports the candidate’s participation and leadership in the church.  

  7. Enthusiastic recommendation by a pastor and two other references who confirm the candidate’s potential for ministry. 

  8. The time and energy to work full-time in ministry in the flexible and at times demanding responsibilities of church work, including some nights and weekends.  

Specific Qualifications:

  1. Experience in facilities or operations management or a related occupation

  2. Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in facility maintenance, construction, and repair activities; including skills and abilities related to plumbing, janitorial, electrical systems, painting, carpentry, construction and heating and air conditioning systems

  3. The ability to manage major construction projects and outside vendors

  4. A keen interest in working as a team and the ability to function independent of micromanagement.

  5. Proficient in administrative systems and platforms (e.g. Google Drive, etc.)

  6. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, etc.)

  7. Expert at adjusting expectations to handle change personally and for those whom they lead

  8. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Track, prioritize, and delegate tasks to custodial team and vendors, ensuring completion in a timely fashion (including building inspections, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, landscape, waste management, room setups, etc.)

  2. Provide leadership and management of the custodial staff for the church and school including managing the schedule of personnel

  3. Oversee and coordinate facility construction projects with outside vendors including bid requests, selection, and contractor management

  4. Oversee and implement facility tickets and work orders for the church and school

  5. Ensure all church facilities and grounds are well maintained and ready for events and services, including overseeing room reservations, set up, and HVAC scheduling

  6. Ensure regular maintenance schedules are in place and performed

  7. Purchase, track, and manage supplies and equipment 

  8. Propose, implement, and monitor the annual facility budget

  9. Serve as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require off hour responsibilities

  • What knowledge, skill, and ministry objectives and goals will be set for  the first 90, 180, 365 days?  

  • How will success (evaluation) be determined?

Additional Expectations for the Candidate:

  • Show up on time to all meetings or responsibilities and complete them fully without cutting corners. 

  • Know and ‘own’ the mission and values of Eastside. 

  • Teach only and always in accordance with Scripture and in addition, with the church’s statement of  faith.

  • Dress appropriately for the ministry situation.

  • Maintain a model lifestyle at all times.

  • Immediately inform the supervisor of any areas of concern or conflict.

  • Treat the members and leadership with respect at all times.

  • Work and collaborate well as a team. “Outdo one another in showing honor.” Romans 12:10

Failure to accomplish the above expectations may result in immediate termination of the position.
